Brugge Photo Journey will take you to one of the most beautiful medieval town of Europe. Brugge is situated in the North Western part of Belgium. If you are going to Belgium than Brugge should be on top of your list. We did a day trip to Brugge from Amsterdam. The train from Amsterdam to Brugge took a little over 3 hours with one connection at Antwerp.
Once you are in this lovely city you should slow down your speed to enjoy every bit of it.
Brugge is an historical treat to the eyes.
Once you come out of Brugge Central Station, just few minutes’ walk will take you to the
Lake of love known as “Minnewater Lake”
The lake looks very delightful and fresh.
Few steps further you will see the lovely Canal flowing into the city.
Bruges is a small city. It can be best seen on foot but alternatively you can also hire a horse drawn carriage to feel the city in a royal way.
The city is full of ancient architectures.
The houses in the city are century old and just following the cobble stone streets will take you to many historical and artistic sites.
Jeruzalemkerk is a church from 1400 modeled after Jerusalem’s Holy Sepulchre & known for its macabre decorations.
The Church of Our Lady was built in 13th Century remains the tallest structure in the city and the second tallest brickwork tower in the world.
You can see this church from almost every corner of the city.
When you reach the historic center of Bruges elegance can be felt everywhere
The Markt is located in the heart of the city. It was historically the medieval commercial center of Bruges but now it is filled with restaurants and cafes making it one of the most happening place of the city.
The Provinciaal Hof is a Neo gothical building situated in the Markt Square. It is the former meeting place for the provincial government of West Flanders.
Few minutes’ walk will lead you to the Basilica of holy blood, a Roman Catholic minor basilica in Bruges. It was built in the 12th century as the chapel of the residence of the Count of Flanders.
Belfort or Belfry is a medieval bell tower in the historical Centre. You can climb up to take a breathtaking view of the city or just sit in the main market square to enjoy carillon that randomly plays throughout the day.
Food is an important part of our Brugge photo journey. Belgian fries are world famous so don’t forget to try one when you are in the city.
Compliment your meal with a Brugge Beer.
And for the dessert what is better than a waffle with whipped cream, a local specialty.
