Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam. It is served by Noi Bai International Airport (HAN). The airport is located 45 km north of city center. In our Hanoi Airport Guide we will share the mode of transport from airport to the city center for your convenience.
The easiest way to travel from airport is taxi. The more economical option is shuttle bus or public bus but they are difficult to navigate for first time visitors.
Hanoi Airport Guide: Taxi from Noi Bai Airport (HAN)
After exiting the arrivals terminal, you will need to cross the street for the taxi line. The signs indicating the taxi area are not very clear. There are representatives from the following reputable companies standing outside the Arrivals terminal, they can help you to direct to the taxi area.
Prefer these reputable taxi companies: Mai Linh (green taxi) and Hanoi Group (white and red taxi).
Note: The other taxi companies may over charge.
The journey will cost VND 350,000 – VND 400,000 including toll fare. It takes 45 minutes.
Hanoi Airport Guide: Bus from Noi Bai Airport (HAN)
There are no direction signs for visitors to the bus departure area. Many of the services stop across the street after the taxi line. Hanoi Airport Public Bus service is run by Tramoc, which offers two routes – No. 7 (to Cau Giay) and No. 17 (to Long Bien). Both the journey takes 1 hour. Both the busses depart in every 15 – 20 minutes.
Tickets can be purchased from the bus driver while boarding the bus.
Bus no. 7 cost VND 4,000 and bus no. 17 is VND 5,000.
Hanoi Airport Guide: Shuttle from Noi Bai Airport (HAN)
Shuttle buses are more comfortable than public buses. Hanoi Airport Shuttle travels to several destinations. It usually takes 1 hour journey.
There are no signs directing to the shuttle bus departure area. But many of the bus services are available across the street, past the taxi line.
The fare of shuttle buses ranges from VND 40,000 – VND 60,000 depending on the destination. Tickets can be purchased from the bus drivers when boarding the bus.
NOTE: Prefer to take taxi if you have big luggage, because signs boards are not clear to explain bus departure area. Therefore, this can cause difficulty in finding bus area with heavy luggage.
