So, here is our Kuala Lumpur Airport Guide to help you in the best way to reach your hotel from airport.
Kuala Lumpur is managed by Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Buses are the cheapest way to travel into city and even from airport. Taxi are expensive but most comfortable and convenient option. Train is only available at KLIA only. We will discuss all the means of commutation briefly in our Kuala Lumpur Airport Guide.
Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is 60 km from the city center. It has 2 terminals, which are 2 km apart. KLIA2 handles mostly budgets airlines. A free shuttle bus connects the KLIA main terminal and KLIA2.
Kuala Lumpur Airport Guide: Taxi from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and KLIA2
There are two types of taxis available at KLIA and KLIA2 terminals, one is metered taxi and other is pre-pay coupon taxis.
At KLIA, you can find metered taxi at transportation hub on level 1 of the main terminal building. The prepaid coupon taxis are lined outside the arrivals on level 3 of the main building.
At KLIA2, all the taxis are available at the transportation hub on level 1.
The journey from airport to city center via taxi takes around 1 hour and above depending on the traffic.
Metered Taxi
To take metered taxi, you have to purchase RM 2 ticket from the counter. Than Pay the fare which is shown in the meter once you reach your destination.
Usually it cost RM 75 in a budget taxi. Luxurious taxis are also available which will cost around RM 100.
Prepaid Coupon Taxi
Fare in these taxis are fixed and zoned according to the destination + type of vehicle. You have to pre-pay for your ride by purchasing a coupon at the ticket counter.
The journey from airport to city center will cost RM 75.
Kuala Lumpur Airport Guide: Train (KLIA Ekspres) from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and KLIA2
KLIA Ekspres Train is the fastest way between city center and both the airport terminals. The train connects both the terminals to the KL Sentral station (city’s main transportation hub).
The train starts from 5 AM – 1 AM. The journey takes 28 and 33 minutes from KLIA and KLIA2 respectively. The cost of trip is RM 55 (adults) and RM 25(children under 12). You can buy tickets from station or online.
Kuala Lumpur Airport Guide: Bus from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and KLIA2
From KLIA, air-conditioned Airport Coach bus service are available from Block- C. This bus runs in every 30 minutes from airport to KL Sentral and also come back. This service runs between 5 AM – 12.30 AM.
You can buy tickets from KLIA ticket counter, located next to the bus bay at the airport and KL Sentral Station. The journey takes 1 hour and cost RM 10 one way, RM 18 Return.
From KLIA 2, bus companies like Skybus and Aerobus runs directly to and from between Airport and KL Sentral. It runs in every 30 minutes. You can buy tickets from ticket counter next to bus line or can book online. This cost RM 10.
